Copyright registration in Indonesia has to be made with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights

What can be registered?

Copyright registration in Indonesia is possible for the following categories of works:

• books, computer programs, pamphlets, typographical arrangement of published works, and all other written works
• sermons, lectures, addresses and other works of utterance
• visual aid made for educational and scientific purposes
• songs or music with or without lyrics
• dramas, musical dramas, dances, choreographic works, puppet shows, pantomimes
• all forms of art, such as paintings, drawing, engravings, calligraphy, carvings, sculptures, collage, and applied arts
• architecture
• maps
• batik art
• photography
• cinematography works
• translations, interpretations, adaptations, anthologies, data-base and other works as a result of changing of form of models

Foreign authors

Works of foreign authors can be registered if they meet the requirements of Indonesian Copyright Law.

Procceding

Once the filing of the application is completed it may take around 10 working days until the digital certificate/recordal notification is issued.

Required documents and information:

The following documents are required in an application to register the copyright in a work:

• PoA
• statement of copyright ownership
• deed of assignment of copyright (in case the right has been transferred to the applicant)

The following information is required in an application to register the copyright in a work:

non-software artwork:

• a sample of the work (text, photo of sculptures, songs, lyrics, etc) along with a short description of the same
• creator’s data (incl. nationality)
• copyright holder’s data (incl. nationality)

software

• the codes and the instruction/summary on how the software works.
• creator’s data (incl. nationality)
• copyright holder’s data (incl. nationality)
